Shafali Verma, a 15-year-old Indian batswoman has
broken the long unbroken record of Sachin Tendulkar. She became the
youngest Indian to score an International T20 half-century and against
West Indies in Saint Lucia.

Sachin Tendulkar was the record
holder to score a T20I 50 when he was, 16 years and 214 days old. He had
scored 59 in a test match against Pakistan. Shafali got the achievement
during the age of 15 and 285 days, She scored 73 runs in 49 balls by
breaking Master Blaster’s record.

Shafali was insulted and abused by the neighbors for loving cricket. Every day morning she used to cycle for more than 8kms to practice cricket. Her words “It was initially a struggle to play against the boys. I was always hit in the helmet. On some occasions, they even broke my helmet grid. But I never gave up.”
